With nearly 30 years of experience in public education across five North Carolina school districts,
Dr. Amanda Moran has served in a wide range of roles, including teacher, technology facilitator, district technology director, assistant principal, principal, director of learning interventions, chief academic officer, and assistant superintendent for academic and student support services. Her leadership spans both rural and diverse school communities, with a strong track record of transforming low-performing schools through strategic planning, systems development, and compassionate, student-centered support.

Under her academic leadership, Chatham County Schools achieved exceptional results, including zero low-performing schools in 2024–2025, the highest growth in the state, 100% of schools meeting or exceeding growth (multiple times), and recognition as a Cognia District of Distinction—an honor awarded to only 35 organizations worldwide in 2025. As a principal in Chapel-Hill Carrboro City schools, her school went from being a school under sanctions, to a school exceeding growth, closing achievement gaps by 40 points, and having strong teacher working conditions results. Amanda knows how to get results for students at both the school and district level.
